Marliin Model 1892 Lever Action Rifle 22 lr Rimfire Hex Barrel

This rare gun was made between 1896 and 1915 - There is no serial number on it.

The condition is very good for its age - Wood is sound without any cracks but does have the
bumps etc one would expect. It has been refinished sometime in the past.

The bluing is all at about 60% and has a very even wear - a little shiny on the edges.
Barrel is 24 inches long and bore is good.

Marlin introduced his first rimfire lever action rifle, the Model 1891, based on a
design patented by John Marlin’s collaborator and employee, Lewis L. Hepburn.
It had a solid top receiver and loaded through a gate on the right side, similar to the
Marlin Model 1889 centerfire rifle (also patented by Hepburn).
This was the gun Annie Oakley used in her early shooting matches that won her such
great fame.
Her Model 1891 was chambered for the .22 rimfire cartridge, but the rifle was also
offered in .32 rimfire.

Although not produced until 1895 (and not available until the following year), the
second generation of the Model 1891 was called the Model 1892, and was
produced until 1915. In 1905, the name was changed from Model 1892 to Model 92
