.45 ACP Serial # 177 Documented by Savage Arms, One of the original 200 Savage Model 1907 .45 pistols ordered Oct 15 1907. The pistols were delivered in Dec of 1908. After extensive testing with numerous pistols being returned to Savage and a number of replacements being produced to a total production of 288 pistols as documented by the Ordnance Dept and Savage arms. Most were eventually sold commercially after being refinished to a dull matte blue finish with most all markings removed with exception of serial numbers, and .45 ACP on breech of slide. This example (#177) is documented by Savage Arms as having been returned from Trials, refurbished and commercially sold to E K Tryon of Philadelphia in 1922. Condition, The metal rates excellent as Refinished / Restored with being mechanically fine. The 2 piece checkered / varnished walnut stocks are excellent with minor edge wear. The hammer, grip safety , manual safety and grip screws have been fire blued. The magazine has period of use oxidation and finish losses.
