US Springfield 1864 Original Civil War Black Powder Rifle 58 Cal

This Civil War longarm is a .58 Caliber US Springfield Model 1863 type 2 or Model
1864 single shot muzzle loader in complete, nice condition.
The Springfield M1863/64 musket was a government arsenal product from the
Springfield Arsenal in Massachusetts.

Over two hundred and fifty thousand longarms were produced for the US Ordnance
Dept. during the American Civil War.
Barrel exterior has original uncleaned finish. Rifling is faint but does need to be cleaned
as it is dirty.

Breech marks visible VP over Eagle Head breech date 1864.
Barrel is 37 1/2 Inch long.

Typical flip up leaf rear sight, single edge front blade.
Lockplate exhibits light peppering to lock surface with age spots and has 1864
clearly stamped near hammer rear. Front lock marking typical American winged
spread Eagle forward US Springfield. Eagle on holster and lockplate markings sharp.
All three barrel bands are marked with letter U.
Both sling swivels present and connected to a very old leather sling - Sling has
the words H W Oliver over Pittsburg PA - Words are very faint.and leather is very aged.

Mechanics sharp and crisp. Ramrod full length with thread. Iron buttplate and trigger
wand are original.
Dark walnut stock with many minor dings and chips otherwise sound with no big
cracks anywhere.

A completely original Civil War firearm all in original untouched condition.
